Who makes your clothes? - Part 3

Who makes your clothes? - Part 3

In this part of “who makes your clothes?”, we’ll take you through the finishing steps of producing our garments and introduce you to a few more of the talented people we work with; if you missed the first two parts, you can find part 1 here and part 2 here.

After leaving the machine floor the garments are taken down stairs for finishing.  The finishing team is headed up by Miss Phyu Win (in the photo below) and covers the trimming of threads, quality checks and packing.  The team undertaking the trimming use razor sharp snips to cut threads, before placing them in a huge vacuuming machine to remove threads or fluff picked up during production and a visual check for any production defects.

Mr Aung Min (in the photo below) leads the ironing team and this is another of those jobs that that is made even harder by the unbearable heat, although all the steam must do wonders for their complexion!

The final steps are for a sample of shirts to be taken for sizing quality checks against the grading specifications and as long as no issues are found, the shirts are folded and packed.

Once all the goods are finished, our camera shy, good friend and agent, Nickki, organises the shipping of the goods from Thailand to our warehouse in Dorset.  Nickki (hiding to the right of Yui in the photo below) is critical part of our business and we cannot thank her enough for all she does.  She doesn’t just co-ordinate shipments, but also helps manage and support the vast majority of our business in Thailand, particularly during our very hectic visits.  On top of helping us, she’s a published author of several books and somehow even finds time for translation work for several businesses!

Once the shirts arrive at our warehouse near Blandford in Dorset, it’s down to Vicky and I to do everything else, with Vicky taking the lead on day to day picking and packing of orders and helping customers, whilst I do product design, website development and product photography and copy writing.

We really hope you’ve enjoyed learning about where our clothes are made and meeting some of the amazing people that help make our designs come to life.
