Can certain colours influence your mood?

Can certain colours influence your mood?

Can colours affect your mood?

It’s no secret that certain colours are known for having an affect on our mood.

Research has found that we associate colour with certain emotions, moods and behaviours, while also using different shades as a form of nonverbal communication.

You may have a favourite colour, maybe you admit it or not.  Is there a particular colour that you feel most confident wearing, or a shade you’ve found yourself having more of in your home?

Read on to discover the meaning behind each colour. It may even say something about you along the way too…..

Yellow

Yellow is thought of as a colour that evokes happiness, optimism and energy – and we can see why! Yellow is fabulously bright, reminding us of sandy beaches, zesty cocktails, and, most importantly,  days in the sunshine.

Yellow sparks the feeling of joy, an appetite for life! So why not add a little yellow into your wardrobe with a splash of this fresh shade. Check out our Grenouille Ladies Long Sleeve Blue and Yellow Anemone Flower Shirt  here  whilst it's not pure yellow, we think you will like it……a lot!

Purple

Ever felt particularly powerful whilst wearing purple? Well there is actually a reason! Purple is a mix of two of the boldest colours on the spectrum, blue and red. When worn, purple can conjure up feelings of power and sophistication. Perfect for an upcoming  meeting or perhaps a job interview that you’re a little nervous for……..you, nervous? Never!

Purple can also bring an element of calm, having a soothing effect on your mood. Think of soft lavender tones and gain instant calm (a)!. We love the colour purple at Salamander & think you will like this lovely Oxford in purple will impress! See it here

Pink

Be pretty in pink! When we think pink, we think of romance, femininity and softness. People who favour pink clothes are typically generous, loving and kind with a sensitive side, while using the colour in your home, they say,  is a sign of passion!

Red is bright, bold and definitely on the warm side of the colour spectrum, it gives us feelings of love and excitement. Those who favour the colour red tend to be adventurous!
